Magical Mixture was the directing debut for Sally Manning, who has gone on to direct further with BATS Next Gen but also BATS.   The format was based around a piece written by W H Auden (1907-1973), an English-born poet and man of letters, namely:

‘The countenance of children, like those of animals, are masks, not faces, for they have not yet developed a significant profile of their own.’

Sally chose to produce the show to give children the opportunity to show the audience what they can do without being  judged or feeling they have something to prove. 

The show was performed at Central Studio, Queen Mary’s College, Basingstoke.
